Staying Positive

Nursing is a very demanding profession and can cause burn out. Most nurses work in this profession because they enjoy caring for people. I believe that it can be very easy to constantly care for others and not take care of ourselves. I think it is important for nurses to have great support networks. These networks can be co-workers, family, friends and teachers. I believe it is important to find a balance between work, school and yourself. If you are constantly emotionally giving support to other people, nurses can burn out quickly. I believe that in order to prevent burn out, you have to know your limit, know how to distress and you have to really enjoy what you are doing.

I agree. It is all about limitations. But to figure out your own limitations is your challenge and how to balance it! Hopefully we will not be one of those nurses that burn out! :)
